A Speaker’s Guide to Submitting a Secure360 Proposal

Secure360 returns to Mystic Lake Center in Prior Lake, Minnesota, on May 12-13, 2027, the conference’s 22nd year. The call for speakers opened September 22, 2026, and this year’s ask is straightforward: help the security and risk community lead through uncertainty. As the conference’s theme puts it, “the pace of change in our world is undeniable, and uncertainty is the environment we operate in,” and the program is built to equip attendees with the strategies, skills, and perspectives to lead their organizations through whatever comes next.
Why Speak at Secure360
Secure360 draws a serious audience to a regional conference: 800+ attendees, 90+ speakers, and 80+ sessions in a typical year, with attendees from organizations such as Target, U.S. Bank, Patterson Companies, Alliant, and Securian Financial. When attendees are asked why they come, professional development tops the list at 80%, followed by session content (67%), networking (60%), and certification hours (56%). That’s a room built for practitioner-to-practitioner sessions, not vendor pitches.
Speakers accepted for 2027 receive full complimentary registration, including all keynote and breakout sessions, and the tradeshow, plus the opportunity to expand their reach as a guest blogger on the UMSA website.
Session Format and Tracks
Every session at Secure360 runs 60 minutes, so proposals are judged on substance rather than pitch length. The organizers have also been specific about what tends to stand out: case studies and fresh ideas, over sessions built purely around theory or frameworks.
Submissions fall into six tracks, and the breadth is intentional.
- Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery covers BCP, disaster recovery, incident management, and standards, including how organizations plan for and respond to situations that alter their risk profile.
- Governance, Risk, and Compliance encompasses program-level work, auditing, broad risk evaluation, and building out the frameworks that keep a security program meeting its requirements.
- Cybersecurity spans both offense and defense, from data security and cloud application security to mobile, critical infrastructure, and incident response and forensics.
- Physical Security covers facility and organizational protection: access control, video surveillance, and guard services.
- Professional Development is aimed at coaching practitioners’ skills in communication, management, and leadership.
- Career exists specifically for students and career changers, with sessions on professional advancement and introductory technical topics.
A proposal doesn’t need to force itself into a narrow security lens to fit here; these six tracks leave room for governance work, physical security, career guidance, and technical depth to sit side by side. If the session gives a risk, security, or resilience professional something they can use, there’s a track for it.
