SUMMARY:BCPA Member Meeting
DESCRIPTION:How can businesses and public entities work together to improve preparedness and response initiatives?\nThis month’s speaker will give an overview of the recent emergency notification drill conducted by Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) and MN-Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Additionally\, advancements with Minnesota’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) will be shared with insights into how business and public partnerships can work together to improve preparedness and response initiatives.  As part of the TPT and HSEM exercise\, emergency information was put out in four different languages (English\, Spanish\, Somali and Hmong) including the piloted broadcast of an Emergency Alert System (EAS) message and live streaming a mock media briefing. This session will explore how TPT’s broadcast channel 2.5 (TPT|NOW) can serve as a resource for broadcasting weather\, preparedness and emergency response content supporting public health and safety initiatives. It will also explore future opportunities to utilize this channel during emergencies and other major events and improving cross-sector continuity partnerships.

SUMMARY:ISACA- DevOps Audit and Control 2 day training
DESCRIPTION:Software development today cannot be “Business as Usual”.  Customers\, users\, and management are demanding\, even expecting\, faster product-to-market delivery of new technologies\, services\, and products.\n\nTo seize this initiative\, business owners\, developers\, operations personnel\, quality assurance\, testers\, security specialists\, suppliers\, and marketers need to work closely in a collaborative manner to deliver software in a continuous manner that puts your business ahead of the competition.\n\nThis is DevOps.  Easy to understand?  No.  Easy to apply?  No.  But know this – It is all about Continuous development\, testing\, deployment\, monitoring\, feedback\, vulnerability scanning\, and….just maybe…auditing!  What we now have is a stew pot of boiling expectation and ideas that can deliver the BEST…or the worst.\n\nFor the Auditors – How to audit in the continuous process?  What to know?  Where are the risks?  How to get into it?  What to do when you get involved?  Where to put your focus?\n\nThis course is designed to 1) eliminate the complicated clutter\, 2) identify what auditors and developers can do to help achieve success\, and 3) provide a risk-based approach to auditing both dynamically and knowledgeably as a contributor and not a distractor.

SUMMARY:BCPA Member Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Crisis Communication\nThe interaction between disaster recovery and business continuity professionals and their communications counterparts impacts the effectiveness of even the best DR and BC programs and – just as importantly – how key stakeholders perceive those programs’ effectiveness. Unfortunately\, many organizations – even ones with sophisticated BC and DR plans – fail to extend their planning and preparation to this vital function. Jon Austin\, a 25-year communications professional who’s worked on hundreds of crisis and issue management situations\, will offer insights into how BC/DR professionals can explore the topic of crisis and issue management communications with their internal counterparts\, the elements necessary for creating effective communications plans as well as tips for evaluating a plan’s completeness.

SUMMARY:ISSA Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Blue Team On A Budget\, Brian Johnson \nOur companies continue to get breached because we’re still not getting some of the security basics right.  The good news is we don’t always have to buy an expensive software/hardware solution for every one of our technical security needs.  Instead\, by making some minor tweaks to our servers and implementing some free/open-source tools\, we can gain a great amount of insight into what’s going on in our network – and even stop threats. \nSecurity Metrics and Their Importance\, Dave Losen \nSecurity Metrics and Metric driven security programs are great buzz words. Unfortunately many professionals don’t understand the benefits of tracking and trending security metrics\, don’t know how to collect them\, and are at a loss on what actionable items they indicate. This talk will overview 20 top metrics\, talk about their history and show how a few may be used to the benefit of a proactive\, modern\, security team.

SUMMARY:ISACA dual topic Meeting
DESCRIPTION:DeVops- Security’s big opportunity\nDevOps culture creates an opportunity for us to improve application security. Since developers are the ones producing code\, integrating components and creating the innovations that fuel our digital economy\, they are also the ones who will determine whether or not security is part of development or not. Security professionals must therefore learn to how to talk to developers about how to create a security program that will accelerate development and not slow it down while at the same time reducing risk. \nWhen the sweet turns sour- Managing you open source risks\nWith 90+% of applications made up of open source\, it is the largest unmanaged risk to companies today. Do you have an open source inventory for all of your applications (buy or build) including known vulnerabilities? Do you stay current? Do you monitor for new vulnerabilities? Have you heard of Equifax? If you answered no to any of these\, be sure to attend this presentation
