SUMMARY:BCPA Member Meeting: A Day in the Life of an Incident Responder
DESCRIPTION:Cyber intrusions\, sabotage\, corporate espionage\, fraud\, and theft of data and intellectual property—these unfortunate realities in today’s dynamic threat landscape necessitate that an organization respond quickly and appropriately to mitigate the impact. But many organizations struggle to prepare for a thorough and prompt response.  What really happens when the organization has to deal with a cyber incident?   Our discussion will use real-life examples to see how cyber incidents frequently play out\, and what the implications are for organizations and those helping them prepare for future responsiveness. \n*** Note New Location for February\, 2019 Meeting***\n8000 Norman Center Dr\, 8000 Tower Classroom\, Located C Level / Skyway\, Bloomington\, MN 55437 \n

SUMMARY:WebTracks Webinar | Andrew Plato presents: Future SOC: Codify and Automate
DESCRIPTION:Andrew Plato is the founder and CEO of Anitian\, the oldest security intelligence company in the nation. In 1995\, while working on an early e-commerce website at Microsoft\, Andrew hacked into the site using a SQL injection style attack. When the developers of the site incorrectly dismissed this hack as harmless\, Andrew became inspired to start Anitian and help organizations understand the complexities of cybersecurity. Today\, Andrew and Anitian serve thousands of clients worldwide with a complete suite of managed security and compliance products and services. \nTo register for this webinar\, click here.  \nEvery breach tells a story\, and most of them end with the same lesson: we are the problem. Humans and our static\, on-premise\, old-school\, castle-mentality of security. It does not work anymore. We make mistakes\, which hackers quickly exploit. The complexity of information security has outgrown our human capacity.\n\nThe only way to get ahead of this expanding threat is to automate. This means letting go of all those racks of NGFWs and SIEMs and codifying security using the power and scale of the cloud.\nWhen environments are codified\, compliance and security become easy. There is no remembering to deploy things. There is no manual checking.  Controls and configurations are integrated into the code\, and therefore always deployed\, and always configured correctly. Moreover\, monitoring and remediation can also be automated\, accelerating incident response to levels well beyond the capacity of humans. \nHowever\, codifying an environment is a profound change for many organizations.  Existing tools\, techniques\, and technologies do not directly translate to the cloud.  In this presentation\, we will discuss how to you can start on the path to security codification and automation. We will demonstrate how you can build and configure an entire security infrastructure using cloud automation. \nAttendees will learn the following from this presentation: \n\nThe benefits of a fully automated\, cloud environment\nHow codifying not only dramatically accelerates security\, it also makes it more reliable and consistent.\nBuilding blocks for infosec next

SUMMARY:ISACA Meeting: The Auditor's Guide to CCPA and GDPR
DESCRIPTION:Adam Stone has over 30 years’ business leadership experience with 19+ years overseeing data privacy and security functions for healthcare\, insurance\, financial services and marketing organizations. Stone’s experience spans a broad array of global privacy and data security laws\, regulations\, standards and guidelines. He provides executive-level advice and mentorship to enable the implementation and maintenance of effective data privacy and security programs for organizations large and small. Secure Digital Solutions is an award-winning Minneapolis-based management consultancy focused in data security and privacy advisory and cybersecurity performance management services to organizations across the United States and abroad. Stone earned his MBA from the University of St. Thomas and BA from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. \nPresentation Description: \nThis session focuses on two influential laws driving the current data privacy agenda for organizations large and small. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies broadly to any organization that processes personal data about folks in the European Union. The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA)\, passed shortly after GDPR went into effect\, defines similar data protection obligations for for-profit entities who process personal data about California residents. Both laws have wide-reaching effects due to their scope. Organizations that worked towards compliance with GDPR may be able to leverage those same processes to enable the rights defined in CCPA. \n• What is the internal auditor’s role in GDPR and CCPA compliance? \n• What ought the internal auditor know about these privacy mandates? \n• How can internal auditors add value in the ever changing world of data privacy regulation?

SUMMARY:MN ISSA Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our April Chapter Meeting will be held April 9\, 1:00-4:00pm\, at St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis. Come out and join us for our informative presentations and great networking with your coworkers\, colleagues and friends!  \nRegister here. \n\n\nMeeting Agenda \n\nSocial networking: 1pm – 1:30pm\nPresident and Board opening statements: 1:30pm – 1:50pm\nPresentation: 1:50 – 2:40pm\nBreak: 2:40pm-2:50pm\nSponsor Spotlight 2:50-2:55\nPresentation: 2:55pm – 3:45pm\nClosing remarks: 3:45pm – 4pm\nHappy Hour\n\n\nPresentation #1 Value Proposition: Explaining the value of cybersecurity to non-security business leaders \nCybersecurity and cyber risk are now board-level issues. Barriers that once existed between business and security are disappearing. Business leaders expect meaningful conversations about the topic to help drive business decisions. This presentation will outline what security professionals at all levels can do to communicate the value cybersecurity to non-security business leaders. \nSpeaker Bio: Keyaan Williams \nKeyaan Williams is an experienced risk management executive who has developed information security\, risk management\, and strategy programs for regulated enterprises around the globe. He has also helped build security programs for governments\, universities\, and small businesses. After working as a security leader at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\, he helped write the Certified CISO Body of Knowledge used by EC-Council to prepare thousands of CISOs to obtain this prestigious credential. In addition\, Keyaan supported the global security community as a Director on the ISSA International Board of Directors. He is currently the CEO of a professional services firm that focuses on cybersecurity strategy\, risk management consulting\, and workforce development. \n  \nSponsor Spotlight: Kudelski Security \n  \nPresentation #2: Shifting The Brain In Modern Security Architectures \nAll security incidents have common questions that need to be answered in support of triage and investigation. Security technologies and how they fit into an enterprise security architecture have changed over the years.  The goal of these improvements is to deliver the answers to triage and investigation questions with greater fidelity\, context\, and speed. \nIn this talk\, we’ll explore the security “nervous system” – and how moving to a decentralized sensing and centralized analysis ecosystem arms defenders who must fight at scale. \nSpeaker Bio: Steve Porcello \nSteve started out as a security analyst for organizations in the New York City area\, including some in the industrial\, utility and financial services sectors. From there\, he moved into the vendor space by joining innovative cyber security start-ups. He is now focused on using his experiences in incident response to promote and educate security teams.
