SUMMARY:REDUCING VIOLENCE THROUGH RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS
DESCRIPTION:Event Description: For over two years\, Twin Cities-based professors Jillian Peterson and James Densley have studied the life histories of mass shooters in the United States for a project funded by the National Institute of Justice that has received global media attention. They built a database dating back to 1966 of every shooter who killed four or more people in a public place and interviewed incarcerated mass shooters and their families and friends; people who planned a shooting but changed their minds; shooting survivors and first responders. The goal has been to find new\, data-driven pathways for preventing mass shootings. This presentation shares some of their findings and demonstrates how\, by understanding the traits that mass shooters share\, we can do more than just upgrade security or lockdown an entire generation. We can instead plan to prevent the violence. Visit https://www.theviolenceproject.org for details. \nAgenda\n12:30 – 1:00    Check In & Pre-Meeting Networking\n 1:00 – 1:15    Welcome and Opening Remarks!  Jerrod Montoya – President InfraGard\n 1:15 – 1:25    Board Elections and Candidate Intros- Candidates\n 1:25 – 1:50    Making InfraGard a Force Multiplier –  John Monhage -- FBI\n 1:50 – 2:15    Networking Break \n 2:15 – 4:00    The Violence Project: Mass Shooting Prevention Through Research – \n                     Jillian Peterson PhD – Hamline University\, \n James Densley PhD – Metropolitan State University  \nRegister Here (Required) All attendees must register by noon on Wednesday January 22nd. \n  \n  \nPlease Join Us Immediately After the Meeting for Happy Hour at  Pizza Lucé!  \nLocation:\nCargill\n9320 Excelsior Blvd.\nHopkins\, MN \nSpeaker Bios\nJillian Peterson\, PhD\, is a Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Hamline University and the faculty director of the Center for Justice and Law. SUMMARY:BCPA - Looking Backward to Run Forward
DESCRIPTION:Presentation Description\n \nLessons Learned – We have all been there and done that. The problems? Lack of participation\, boring sessions\, rarely implemented improvements\, and some great ideas are just sitting on a shelf collecting dust. Ugh. What a waste of time. How can we ensure that we stop wasting people’s time and prevent past’s mistakes for a brighter future? There are powerful lessons to be learned\, but we need to change the approach to get more out of our retrospective and lessons learned.  \nPresenter \nPaul Crosby is one of the Founders & CFO at The Uncommon League. Paul is also the full-time instructor for Project Management\, Agile\, and Strategic Enterprise Analysis.
