SUMMARY:BCPA In-Person Meeting: 3 Steps to Better Exercises
DESCRIPTION:PDCA (Plan Do Check Act) fatigue is a real thing\, especially when it comes to the exercise element in business continuity efforts. Even robust\, fully resourced programs can settle into a comfortable lull when it comes to the annual demonstration requirement. \nWhether you’re a novice whose experience is limited to a few plan ‘walk-throughs’\, or a grizzled veteran with years of experience leading functional\, multi-day exercises with Chuck Norris at your side\, there’s a benefit in considering something new. \nElizabeth Stevens will share three simple steps to consider if you want to take your teams and plans to the next level of preparedness.

SUMMARY:Enterprise Adoption of GenAI
DESCRIPTION:GenAI in the Enterprise holds the promise of amazing\, and even unimaginable advancements. Some early examples are better and faster coding\, and application of new operational efficiencies\, such as improvements in supply chain logistics. It also carries new\, formidable challenges\, as real identities become harder to distinguish\, and regulatory pressures intensify to combat new threats. \nAs we plunge into 2024\, on this\, the 40th year Anniversary of ISSA\, we proactively break down the inner workings of GenAI\, how it’s being used today\, pros\, cons and implications for leveraging positively and negatively\, and how you can apply to your various roles in business. \nPlease join us on March 19th\, when our panel of experts will offer differing points-of-view and engage all meeting participants in a group discussion. As we continue to refine our events and formats\, we’re taking over Forgotten Star Brewery in Fridley once again – a beautiful venue\, perfectly set for TC’s Security Community engagement.

SUMMARY:ISACA: April Roundtable Education Webinar - Building an API Risk Management Program for Enterprises
DESCRIPTION:Web APIs benefit organizations immensely through accelerated innovations\, newer business models\, competitive differentiation. Their growing significance can be measured based on the fact that APIs contribute 83% of the Internet traffic today. This growing API usage also means increased cybersecurity risks for enterprises. Given the importance of APIs in digital transformation and the risk they pose to enterprises\, it is imperative for Security\, Compliance and Audit professionals to better understand various API risks. \nIn this workshop\, we’ll identify various risks that originate from enterprise API ecosystems. We’ll then provide an overview of an API Governance framework that effectively manages API risks. This framework is inspired by Software Composition Analysis (SCA) and Zero Trust model. We’ll then highlight the best industry practices and hands-on examples for API Risk Management.

SUMMARY:OWASP June meetup: Hidden Risks in Open-Source Code and AI Models
DESCRIPTION:Hidden Risks in Open-Source Code and AI Models\nRyan Wakeham\, Senior Solutions Engineer\, Checkmarx \nThis presentation will explore some of the threats and risks associated with open-source code and generative AI models. Open-source packages\, while widely adopted for their flexibility and collaborative benefits\, can be exploited through supply chain attacks\, where malicious code is introduced into trusted components. Similarly\, open-source AI models face risks such as data poisoning\, model theft\, and adversarial attacks\, which can compromise their integrity and reliability. Understanding these threats is crucial for developing robust security measures and ensuring the safe use of open-source technologies.

SUMMARY:MN ISSA Chapter Meeting feat. The Information Security Maturity Journey
DESCRIPTION:According to Avril Haines\, Director of National Intelligence\, Ransomware attacks increased by 74% in 2023. Attackers used default or weak passwords\, unpatched vulnerabilities and poorly secured network connections ‘to launch relatively simple attacks.’ \nIt is with this backdrop in mind that we announce our Q2 and Q3 2024 Chapter Meetings\, shifting our focus from the lofty ambitions around GenAI\, and returning back to the fundamentals of the latest Information Security hardening best-practices\, using the most current NIST Cyber Security Framework v.2 as a general guideline for our discussions.

SUMMARY:ISACA: December Roundtable - Critical Infrastructure Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Come hear a Critical Infrastructure talk about Malicious Insider Threat\, Supply Chain\, Physical Attack\, and NERC CIP\n\nThis panel will explore the Midwest Reliability Organization process used to identify and rank reliability\, cybersecurity\, and physical security risks to the Bulk Power System (BPS)\, and its relevance to other sectors. Hear how this grassroots process evolved from the collective knowledge of many\, and how it’s continuously enhanced by the MRO industry councils to refine risk descriptions\, outline typical and worst-case scenarios\, and discover high-level risk mitigations. Risks are normalized by MRO staff and its councils and presented on one heatmap in the final Regional Risk Assessment (RRA).  The panel will also explore the maturity and examples of the cyber and physical security standards used to ensure a reliable and secure power grid known as NERC CIP that have been in place for approximately 15 years now.
